Wolf Blass® launches Green Label wines in Australia
Under a licensing agreement with Constar, VIP Packaging is supplying Australian winemaker Wolf Blass with 750ml PET bottles using DiamondClear® oxygen scavenging technology for their latest release, Green Label wines. The PET bottle used for Wolf Blass Green Label produces 29 percent less greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) over the entire lifecycle of the product compared to a 750ml glass bottle. The claim of 29 percent less GHG compared to a 750ml glass bottle is substantiated via completion of a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) as conducted by the external agency Net Balance and then peer reviewed by Energetics as a third party. Gram-for-gram, DiamondClear oxygen scavenging material has approximately five times more oxygen absorption capacity than competing scavenger technologies. The active monolayer materials absorb oxygen, not only limiting the amount of oxygen which ingresses into the bottle, but also assists with the removal of oxygen from the head space ensuring the wine delivers the same quality, taste and fresh fruit flavors within a best before date of 12 months. The new packaging format is in response to market demand and a clear consumer insight suggesting that 96 percent of consumers today claim they’d like brands to show them how they are helping climate change and the environment (STW Group Ltd, Climate Change 2007). Available as a Crisp Dry White and Cabernet Shiraz, the Wolf Blass Green Label wines are crafted in a fruit-forward style ready for enjoyment on release.
