The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) dubbed this new package "the smart bottle", and Constar's MonOxbar™active oxygen scavenger is the technology that made it possible.

Abbey Well developed its Natural Mineral Water product to meet the new nutritional guidelines for drinks in UK schools. Ideally suited for school marketing, the product comes in 4 healthy fruit varieties and contains 65 percent fruit juice with no preservatives or other additives. To help protect the taste and look of its new product, Abbey Well turned to its strategic partner, Constar International, Inc. (NASDAQ: CNST). The 250 ml size PET (polyethylene terephthalate) container developed for this purpose had a demanding oxygen barrier requirement due to the premium nature of the product and its shelf life requirements. As a technology leader in the PET industry, Constar worked closely with Abbey Well to develop a technically suitable package for this school marketing program.

(NASDAQ: CNST) has entered into an Oxbar® patent license agreement with Amcor (Packaging) Australia Pty Ltd. under which Amcor will be able to supply its Australia and New Zealand customers with PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles having enhanced oxygen-scavenger protection for excellent retention of product quality. The initial application will be for packaging wine.
